The script

[PRE-INTERVIEW — Don't record this]
- Confirm recording is working
- "Is there anything you don't want me to ask about?"
- "How do you want me to introduce you?"

[INTRO]
"Today I'm joined by [Guest Name], who is [1-sentence bio]. Welcome to the show!"

[WARMUP — Easy opener]
"For anyone who doesn't know you, can you give us the 60-second version of your story?"

[CORE QUESTION 1 — Their expertise]
"You're known for [achievement/expertise]. What's the biggest misconception people have about [their field]?"
→ Follow-up: "Can you give me a specific example?"
→ Follow-up: "How did you figure that out?"

[CORE QUESTION 2 — Deeper dive]
"Tell me about [specific project/decision]. What was going through your mind when [key moment]?"
→ Follow-up: "What would you do differently if you could go back?"
→ Follow-up: "What surprised you most about [outcome]?"

[CORE QUESTION 3 — Practical value]
"What's one thing our listeners can do this week to [relevant action]?"
→ Follow-up: "What's the most common mistake you see people make with that?"

[CORE QUESTION 4 — Contrarian or spicy]
"What's an opinion you hold about [their industry] that most of your peers disagree with?"
→ Follow-up: "What evidence convinced you of that?"

[LIGHTNING ROUND — Optional, fun]
"Let's do a quick lightning round."
- "Best book you've read recently?"
- "One tool you can't live without?"
- "Best advice you've ever received?"

[CLOSE]
"Last question — where can people find you, and what are you working on that you're excited about?"

[OUTRO]
"That was [Guest Name], everyone. Links to everything we mentioned are in the show notes. [Guest], thanks for being here."

Tips for this template

Send 3-4 of your questions to the guest beforehand — it helps them give better answers
Listen more than you talk — the follow-up questions are often better than the prepared ones
Have 2x more questions than you need — you'll skip some naturally as conversation flows
The 'contrarian opinion' question almost always produces the best clip for social media
